Term 2 2019
Today (Thursday 14th November 2019), Jenny Sari, a pencil and watercolour artist visited our school. She spent time with Oak Class showing them her work and they talked about which drawing they liked best and why. Some of the children were then inspired to draw their own pet portraits during child initiated time.
At lunch time we had an open studio and all of the children were invited in to come and meet her and view her work which was recently exhibited at Tyland Barn. Dylan really liked the detail in Jenny's drawings and Dollie-Mae liked the colours in her bird drawing. Kacey-Mai summed her work up beautifully when she said, "I'm amazed! Her drawings are like photographs. She blew my tights off!"
The children loved meeting a real artist and asked lots of great questions. We found out that it takes Jenny about 20 hours to do one drawing. She likes listening to music whilst she draws and her favourite animal to draw is a cat. We found out that the secret to doing the white highlights in the animal's eyes is to use a tiny amount of white paint.
As we were so inspired by Jenny's art we have decided to have a drawing competition in school and Jenny has agreed to come in and be the judge! We look forward to welcoming her back into school soon.
