Sports Mark Award News

We are delighted to announce that we, Senacre Wood Primary School, have achieved the School Games SILVER Mark Award for the second year running.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

A selection of our sporting achievements this year include:

- 2nd place in our local Basketball tournament and 3rd in the Maidstone tournament

- tournaments against other schools for more age groups than ever before (hockey, football, cricket), including hosing a cricket tournament for Year 2

- the introduction of our very own Sports Crew

- 'Personal Best' challenges being integrated into our curriculum

With a total of 67 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to everyone who has been involved, from the children for their participation, to the parents for their support on the sidelines and getting us to competitions, as well as the staff at Senacre for all the hours they have put in, both in the office and out on the pitch.

We look forward to applying once again in 2019!
