At Senacre Wood Primary School, we strive to provide a physical education that encourages participation in physical activities and healthy active lives. Across our curriculum, we aim to provide a wide range of opportunities to help our pupils develop confidence when taking part in physical activities. We place importance upon the character values of fairness and respect that are intrinsic to sport.
Using the National Curriculum for PE, we aim to ensure that all pupils:
In essence, we would like all pupils at Senacre Wood Primary to take away positive experiences from their PE lessons that will encourage them to engage with physical activities outside of school. Pupils should build upon and develop skills year upon year demonstrating a good understanding of a range of sports and other physical activities. PE lessons should provide many fantastic opportunities for pupils to demonstrate their sense of teamwork, fairness and respect.
For details of how we implement this within our school and how we measure the impact, please read our PE policy.

Through OAA, students develop essential life skills—such as leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability.
Year 6

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Bronze Level Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
We look forward to applying again in 2025!

Well done to our Year 5 and 6 football team who played at the Gallagher Stadium on Monday. The boys were drawn against some tough teams but played extremely well. The boys secured a win against Discovery Primary School and Barming Primary School! They were just a point shy of securing a place in the final 16.
A massive well done to the whole team, who were fantastic ambassadors for our school.

KS2 Girls' Football
This week, the KS2 girls attended an assembly led by Tori Campbell, manager of Maidstone United's women's first team. We heard all about how Tori found her love for football when playing as part of her primary school team and lots more about her journey to where she is now. They played against some challenging teams, showing good sportsmanship throughout. They played 4 games, drawing two of these, which unfortunately wasn’t quite enough to make it to the quarter finals. However, the team continued to persevere during their friendly and ended up winning this match. Well done to all of the team!
Cricket assembly: 08.01.25
On Wednesday, Adrian from Chance to Shine led an assembly for KS2 all about teamwork. Chance to Shine is an independent cricket charity which encourages children to play and inspire a love for cricket. We discussed examples of where we might already work as a team both in and outside of school and the importance of team work. We even finished the assembly with a fun game of passing the ball around our team in the quickest time!
Adrian will be working with Years 3 and 5 this term. To find out more about what he does as part of the Chance to Shine team, visit:

A special thank you goes to Tori Campbell, Maidstone United Women’s manager and the girls' coach at Senacre, for making this unforgettable experience possible. The day was not only a highlight for the girls but also a great way to promote women's football.

We had an exciting and fun-filled Sports Week, with all the children taking part in a wide range of activities. The week began with team sports from around the world, giving the children the opportunity to work together and enjoy learning new games. On Wednesday, every child took part in our Potted Sports morning, completing various challenges including javelin, running, long jump, penalty shooting and many more. Each activity added valuable points to the team leader board! One of the highlights of the week was the giant inflatable dartboard, which brought lots of laughter and fun! It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and determination from all children. Some of our KS2 children competed in an inter-house football tournament. While every team demonstrated fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship, it was Purple House who emerged as the overall winners. It was wonderful to see every child participating, giving their best effort, and trying new things. Sycamore Class showed great maturity and leadership by helping to set up and referee many of the activities throughout the week.
